Why Wind Power

We consider sustainable development as a vital business ethic. We have been committed and consistent in setting up large and high impact green initiatives. Baldota Group and MSPL Limited take pride in playing a decisive role in strengthening the performance of the wind energy industry by establishing well researched and documented global practices that support enhancement and preservation of the environment.

In all our operational, economic, social, and environmental activities the green touch is evident. This has bolstered our ambition to invest in renewable energy and substantially enhance our investments in wind power over time. Today, we operate seven wind farms across India with a total installed capacity of 230.1 MW.

Projects

Kyoto Protocol and Emission Trading Schemes

On February 16, 2005, the Kyoto Protocol came into force in approximately 141 countries whereby the participants pledged to cut worldwide greenhouse gas emissions by 5.2% from 1990 by 2012. In order to help to accomplish this objective, the Kyoto Protocol included three market-based methods that allow countries to earn or to buy credits outside their borders:

Clean Development Mechanism (“CDM”): Contemplates credits being earned by investing in emission reduction projects in developing countries

International Emissions Trading: Permits developed countries that have adopted a Kyoto target to buy and sell “Emission Reduction Units” (“ERUs”) amongst themselves.

Joint Implementation: “Certified Emission Reduction” (“CER”) credits can be earned by investing in emission reduction projects in developed countries that have adopted a Kyoto Protocol target for reducing emissions.

Carbon Credit Project

“125MW Wind Power project in Karnataka, India” Baldota, when registered, was one of the largest wind energy Project registered with UNFCCC and CERs.

Emission free electricity generation at Harihar, Karnataka, 6.6 MW Wind Power project has been Registered as CDM activity by UNFCCC on 14th April, 2010 Green Energy to Grid at Dhule, Maharashtra, 20 MW Wind Power project has been registered as CDM activity by UNFCCC on 14th March 2011.

30 MW Wind Power project at Surajbari, Gujarat is registered as CDM activity by UNFCCC on 17th January 2011.

Further the company has already signed contracts with various validators for getting VERs for the interim period of various projects from the date of commissioning to the date of registration for CDM. Hence, after verification, company will also get the VER revenue for the units generated from March 2006 to the date of registration with UNFCCC under VCS 2007 guidelines.

Clean & Affordable Wind Power

The Baldota Group has been among the leading investors in wind energy in India. Our concern for the rising levels of greenhouse gases has led us to invest in wind power and fill the gap between energy supply and demand in our country.

The Baldota group believes that growth in business is meaningless and harmful without sustainability. Sustainable development is the only way forward. The power generated from the various wind farms is fed into the respective state grids. We have signed long-term power purchase agreements with various state power utilities and distribution companies to provide electricity across the country.

Despite challenges, we have been successfully meeting the high energy needs of the present world and pledge to continue to do so for our future generations.

We operate seven wind farms across India with a total installed rated capacity of 215.75 MW.

'Rewarding' Journey

Baldota's wind power division has received many laurels and accolades since operations began. Some of which are listed below:

In 2005, the Baldota Group received the KREDL award for the highest investment and production in wind power.
MSPL Limited was honoured with First Prize by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India, for its excellence as an Independent Power Producer under wind Energy Programme during the 10th Five-year plan period (2002-2007) on November 22, 2007.
WINDPRO Award received on June 13, 2009, from Indian Wind Power Association, Coimbatore.
Indian Wind Power Association (IWPA) awarded MSPL Limited for the Best Performing Wind Farms (above 2 MW category) in Karnatakaand Andhra Pradesh for the year 2009-10 on February 15, 2011.
IWPA AWARD FOR THE YEAR 2019-20 and THE YEAR 2020-21 Indian Wind Power Association (IWPA) awarded to MSPL Group (P. Venganna Setty) for the Best Performing Wind Farms (Upto 2 MW category) in Zone 3 which include Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
