Scientific Mining Practices

At Baldota, we are committed to scientific and systematic mining practices. We work towards designing our mines for sustainable, safe, environment-friendly mining with an aim of conservation of minerals. We follow scientific mining practices for our operations.

The mining lease area is explored by a detailed exploration to find the size and shape of the ore bodies. For this, the core drilling and DTH drilling is done along and across the ore body. After obtaining the resources available, the plan for the future is prepared, keeping in mind existing laws, restrictions, etc. The infrastructure is created for long term mining. Research and Development laboratories are established in the mines to find the possibility of upgrading marginally, very low grade ores. This information helps us identify future raw material and adds to the resources.
We have been practicing safe and environmental methods to eliminate/reduce the concerned issues by observing strictly the laws pertaining to the industry. The qualified and competent persons are deployed from the inception to achieve the goals. Our mines are recognized by DGMS, IBM & MOEF for safe and environment-friendly practices by getting national and regional awards.
To combat air pollution that might be brought about by our operations, we have introduced:
  • a new downhill conveyer with an EOU unit to replace existing Downhill Conveyor System at VIOM. This helps reduce the road haulage, the emission as well as dust generation.
  • Wet drilling and dry drilling with a dust extraction system, to help reduce dust generation.
To help reduce soil erosion and water pollution, we aimed to contain all runoff within our mine lease area, making sure that only clear water was being discharged. This was achieved through the construction of gully plugs and check bunds across streams flowing through our mine lease areas.
We regularly monitor noise levels by employing decibel meters at pre-determined locations in our operations areas. We cover crushers and screens to help cut down the decibel levels. The heavy machinery and dumpers operating in our mines satisfy Euro II standard noise-level requirements, guaranteeing a noise-free environment.
